The world is a hypocrite these days. We say we want change, yet we elect a rich old white man president. We try to fight against sexual harassment and victim shaming, and not only do accused men go free, some women even use their rights to try to unnecessarily make said men fall. How can we trust all, when that trust is only deserved by a few? The greatest hypocrisy it seems, however, has to do with the immigrant caravan currently moving steadily towards the United States. They want refuge; we (or at least the old, white America) wants a wall.
It seems people keep forgetting that America is built upon diversity. Only a few are actually Native, and the sick, sad irony is that those people are hardly even welcome in their own country. How ironic is it that we, who stole their land out from under them, now want to protect our American identity by turning against people who hold the same ideals as we once did? We were not much different than those risking their lives to get here, yet just because they come at a different time means we have the right to bar them? Not even that, but mobilize military forces against people who only seek refuge? Joblessness is at an all-time low. Our economy is booming. Why, exactly, do we have to worry about immigrants stealing our jobs? The unemployment rate was a mere 3.7% as of October this year. To me, it seems Americans are doing pretty well so far. I think its stupid to think that employers are gonna fire perfectly good employees just to hire an immigrant. I'm not knocking immigrants- if they have the skills for a job, I think they should be able to get hired- I'm just trying to call out the whole idiocy of it all. People are willing to trust racism, bias, and fake news at the expense of other HUMANS. How hypocritical is that??? At this point, how can we possibly be proud of what we've become? The American dream is DEAD. I pity all those who think otherwise. The America that we once knew, that we were proud of, is gone. All that's left is a tattered American flag, threadbare and holey. It is tearing down the middle, held together by only a few fraying threads. Gone are the days of glory, the days when America was a force to be feared. Welcome are the days of hypocrisy, racism, and a country that can hardly hold itself together. What is there left to be proud of? Instead of acting like we're still all that and ignoring the truth, why don't we face it and MAKE it something to be proud of?
